Do you dream of creating more activities in your club that can attract new members and volunteers, or simply strengthen the sense of community within the club? Then apply to the Aalasa Fund for financial support to help turn these ideas into reality.
What is the Aalasa fund?
The purpose of the fund is to ensure:
The implementation of initiatives and projects that help strengthen and promote active, inclusive communities, enabling more people to experience the joy and benefits of participating in sports.
That sports clubs and associations in Greenland, with or without affiliation to a national sports federation, can receive financial support for organizing and developing sports-related initiatives and projects.
The Activity Fund should be regarded as a supplement to any activities already planned by sports clubs and associations, whether or not they are affiliated with a sports federation. The fund supports activities that promote participation in sport and provide benefits to local communities and society as a whole.
The Activity Fund is open to applications from clubs, associations, and sports federations that are members of the Greenland Sports Confederation (GIF).
Funding can be applied for both existing and new types of activities, for example:
Collaborative projects between clubs, schools, and local communities
Sports events and tournaments
Training camps and clinics
Open sports days and community events
Try-out sessions for new sports and activities
Recruitment activities for new members and volunteers
Workshops, courses, and educational activities
Inclusive activities aimed at underrepresented groups
Family and community-based sports initiatives
Health and wellbeing activities through sport
Funding can be applied for both existing and new types of activities; however:
The Aalasa Fund does not support expenses related to activities and/or projects that have already taken place, nor activities and projects conducted outside Greenland.
Only limited funding may be granted for travel and accommodation expenses, as well as fees or honoraria.
Funding is not available for the organization and delivery of national championships.
The Activity Fund allocates a total of DKK 1,500,000.
As a general rule, there is no minimum or maximum amount that applicants may request. Applications are assessed based on the value and impact the proposed activity or project is expected to create.
There is no requirement for co-funding or self-financing.
Following the assessment and application review process, an application may be:
Approved in full
Approved in part (partial funding)
Declined
Funding decisions are made based on the fund's objectives, available resources, and the expected benefits of the proposed activity or project.

Please ensure that all required information and documentation are submitted to facilitate the assessment of your application.
Applications to the Greenland Sports Confederation (GIF) Activity Fund may be submitted on an ongoing basis.
Approved grants will be processed for payment as soon as possible and no later than 14 days after confirmation that the club’s or association’s application has been approved.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications well in advance of their planned activity to allow sufficient time for assessment and grant administration.
Following the completion of the activity or project, the applicant organization is expected to:
Submit a financial statement, receipts, invoices, or other relevant documentation demonstrating how the grant funding was used.
Contact GIF if the activity or project is not fully completed, or if there are remaining funds from the grant. This ensures that unused funds can potentially benefit other sports clubs and associations and, where appropriate, be returned. As a general rule, grant funding must be used for the purpose stated in the application and spent within the approved funding period.

Approximate number of participants
Activities carried out
Key outcomes and experiences
Whether the activity met expectations
This information should be submitted to GIF no later than 14 days after the completion of the activity.
These guidelines are subject to ongoing review and may be updated as deemed necessary by GIF.
