Course funding programme

Course Fund

The Course Fund aims to strengthen skills and capacity development within Greenlandic sport by providing financial support for participation in and organization of courses.

The fund is targeted at both sports federations and clubs not affiliated with a federation, and is intended to support the development of coaches, leaders, and volunteers across the sports sector.

Who Can Apply?

The following organizations are eligible to apply for support from the Course Fund:

  • Sports federations affiliated with the Greenland Sports Confederation (GIF)
  • Clubs that are not affiliated with a sports federation

Businesses and commercial enterprises are not eligible to receive funding from the fund.

What Can Funding Be Used For?

Funding may be applied for:

  • Participation in courses
  • Organization and delivery of courses
  • Skills and competency development within sport

Budget and Allocation

The total annual fund amounts to DKK 1.5 million.

The funds are allocated as follows:

  • Sports Federations: DKK 1.3 million
  • Clubs without a Federation: DKK 200,000

For sports federations, funding is distributed according to the applicable allocation principles.

For clubs without a federation, funding is awarded on an ongoing basis according to a first-come, first-served principle, combined with an assessment of the expected benefits and impact of the application.

How to Apply

Sports Federations

  1. Prepare course plans for the coming year.
  2. Contact the GIF Secretariat.
  3. Develop the application in collaboration with a Development Consultant.

Clubs without a Federation

  1. Complete the application form.
  2. Submit the application to GIF.

Following completion of the course, applicants are required to submit a brief report describing the outcomes and benefits of the activity.

Important Conditions

  • Funding cannot be awarded for courses that have already been completed.
  • Applications should be submitted well in advance, preferably at least one month before the course takes place.
  • A detailed budget must accompany the application.

Good Advice

To improve the chances of receiving support:

  • Clearly explain the purpose and expected outcomes of the course.
  • Demonstrate how the course will strengthen coaches, leaders, volunteers, or the organization.
  • Prepare a realistic and detailed budget.
  • Submit the application well before the course date.
  • Describe how the knowledge gained will be shared within the club, federation, or local community.

A strong application demonstrates clear benefits for participants and contributes to the long-term development of sport in Greenland.
