The Greenland Sports Confederation (GIF) provides financial support to its members through a total of six funding schemes. Learn more about the purpose and eligibility criteria of each grant scheme, as well as how municipalities typically support sports clubs and associations.
The purpose of this grant scheme is to strengthen and ensure that sports clubs and associations in Greenland, whether affiliated with a national sports federation or not, have the opportunity to carry out and/or develop sport-related initiatives and projects that support the vision of the Greenland Sports Confederation (GIF).
The fund also supports initiatives and projects that help strengthen active communities and create opportunities for more people to experience the joy of sport and physical activity.
Applications can be submitted throughout the year, and the fund is available exclusively to members.
A total of DKK 65,000 worth of sports apparel is awarded three times a year, amounting to DKK 195,000 annually.
Member clubs and associations affiliated with the Greenland Sports Confederation (GIF) may apply for support from the Faxe Kondi Grant Scheme for sports clothing and apparel.
Companies are not eligible to apply for this grant, even if they hold membership status with GIF.
The Parasport Grant Scheme supports sports participation for people with disabilities or special needs. The fund promotes equal access to sport, strengthens communities, and helps create inclusive sporting opportunities across Greenland. Applications are open year-round, with grants of up to DKK 30,000 available per application.
Are you planning to host or attract an international sporting event to Greenland? The International Activities Fund supports events and initiatives that strengthen sport, create international experiences, and promote Greenland as an attractive destination for sports events.
The fund is available to GIF member clubs and sports federations for international championships, grassroots sport events, congresses, meetings, and development or administrative activities with an international focus. Applications are assessed based on sporting value, community involvement, branding potential, and their contribution to the development of sport in Greenland.
Pursuant to the authorization granted by the Finance Committee of Inatsisartut and the Municipal Council of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq regarding the use of the surplus from AWG 2016, Host City has established a Sports Injury Fund from which grants may be awarded for the examination and/or treatment of injuries sustained by young athletes.
Under an agreement with Host City, the Fund is administered by the Sports Confederation of Greenland in accordance with these guidelines.
The course grant programme provides financial support to sports federations and independent clubs that wish to participate in or organize courses and training activities. The purpose of the programme is to strengthen skills development within Greenlandic sport through education, training, and professional development of leaders, coaches, and volunteers. The fund is available to member organizations of the Sports Confederation of Greenland (GIF), and applications are processed in accordance with the applicable guidelines.
