Arctic Sports

The Inuit sport of Arctic Sports has become more firmly established and was admitted as a member of the Greenland Sports Confederation (GIF) in October 2012.

The disciplines within Arctic Sports are divided into three categories:

• Arctic Sports: Traditional Inuit games and sports from the Arctic regions, including Yamal, Alaska, Canada, and Greenland.
• Dene Games: Traditional games of the First Nations peoples.
• Kalaallit Pinnguaatai: Traditional Greenlandic games.

The federation has a total of 869 active members across 18 affiliated sports clubs.

Athletes participate in the Arctic Winter Games and the World Eskimo-Indian Olympics (WEIO).

At the Nunatsinni Unammersuarnerit (Greenland National Championships), competitors from children's, junior, and senior categories take part.
