TAAK (the Greenland Handball Federation) was founded in 1974 and is a member of the International Handball Federation (IHF). Today, the federation is known as Timersoqatigiit Assammik Arsartartut Kattuffiat (TAAK).
Greenland is part of the Pan-American handball region and has qualified for three Men’s World Championships and one Women’s World Championship.
The Greenland Championships (GM) are held for both youth and senior categories. Various clubs also organize Children’s Cups, which have become highly successful and popular events.
In 2018, TAAK hosted the Pan American Men's Handball Championship (Senior), which remains the largest elite-level international sporting event ever held in Greenland.
Today, the federation has 1,346 active members and 9 affiliated sports clubs.
